Learn Game Programming
DeVry's Game and Simulation Programming curriculum will prepare you for taking on various development roles in the game industry.
Game Art & Design Degree
Westwoods’s game art & design program will teach you everything you will need to know before you apply for a job in the game industry.

This is a cartridge or device that you plug into your computer and edit and make your own sound and music, even create dialogs with your voice, then have the ability to edit your voice appropiately.  Then you would unplug it from the computer, walk over and plug it into your gaming console, and ready for the second phase.  I will start with the sound effects.

For example: lets say you do not like the sound effects Link makes while attacking enemies with his weapons in the Windwaker game for the Nintendo Gamecube.  What do you do then?  Make new sounds to your own liking.  After making the sound effects or simply editting the original effects, you switch from the first original effect to the new and improved sound.  You would not be able to save these, but have them programmed into the pluggin, meaning you would have to have it in use every time you played that game.  Now for the music.

Most of the games out have background music while you are playing the games.  And though some games have excellent soundtracks, this is rare.  If you hate the music, create your own or edit the original and do as you would for the sound effects.  Now for the voices.

Final Fantasy X.  We all know that the voices are good, but lets say you don't like them.  Record your own voices and some of your friends, then replace the originals with yours, or like before, edit the originals.  Now, there is one more thing that comes with this sound equipment that will bring you to the highest and best degree of sound, to sound nirvana.

Its a Data Upload/Download Link that hooks to the computer and console so you can download and upload other creations, giving you a wider selection.  Just listen.....you will reach sound nirvana soon, very very soon.  Sound heaven is coming!

If this idea were to actually work, I'd be amazed. First off, if you wanted to record your voice into a game, in other words- alter the game dialouge, you'd have to totally erase, or set aside, the primary settings and then inject your's into some kind of system preference drive. Not only would this take hours or even days, but it would be extremely difficult and tedious. You'd have to read the entire script from whichever character(s) you want(ed) in order for the computer to playback the audio. You can't just read 3 words to a computer and expect it to know your voice. As for sound effects, the original audio would still be in the backround once you imported your own (overlaping sound effects) which would sound very crappy in deed. You have a great imagination, keep dreaming.

Ya know the idea does have potential... but...

I really like this idea! It sounds like a whole lot of fun! Being able to record your own voice into your favorite RPG as the main hero, and all of your friends as the sub characters. Or change all the sounds into a video game to something fun and wacky. Theres endless possibilities and entertainment just with fun sound effects! I actually remember a game, Worms 2, where you could change the voices to anything you want. I changed all my worms to have voices from Duke Nukem, everytime they got hit they would swear their mouthes of, it was great! But the problem lies within, as Bizpimp said, actually getting such a voice-recording device like this to work. I don't think it would be IMPOSSIBLE to make a device that could record just a few words and know your voice... the problem would be mass producing it at prices that are not outrageous. It would be a dream to have my own voice in an RPG, that would just personalize it all the more and enthrall me more into the game. But, as already stated... the likelyhood of something like this being created anytime in the near-future is... unfortunately, very very slim. Also, the need for a harddrive would defintely be there as the game would have to save all the info... because memory cards just don't have the capacity to store media, unfortunely.
