Story
A Japanese man named Kama has no past. All he has is a mysterious mark on his arm that means "fraction" in Japanese. He also has a...barcode on his neck??? Kama realizes that to find answers to his past, he must participate in an American sports even called...fraction! The winner of the Fraction tournament wins five billion dollars, but Kama doesn't just want the money, he wants answers!

Gameplay
Fraction is a sports game in which you play as Kama (that's pronounced comma as in ,) a man with no past. You must gather a team in order to participate (and win) in twelve extremely difficult sports events. The hardest part of this game is the beggining, where you must pick a geographical location (and it can be ANYWHERE on this blue plantet) and walk around trying to find seven members for your sports team. Don't find all your members in one place, becuase at the end of each event you recieve a special variety score! For Example: You are a Japanese man, so if you find all of your characters from Sweden, you will get a variety score of 2, for two different nations competing on a team. However, if you find seven different people from seven different nations, (For Example: Japan, America, Russia, Sweden, England, Iran, and Turkey) you will get a variety score of 7! However, the more variety you have on your team, the harder it gets to find people willing to join, and people with good stats will be the hardest. Here's what I mean by stats. Every person you find to join your team will have different stats. For Example: A person from America will cost a lot of money to join your team, and will have good stats such as
Strength: 60\100
Speed: 75\100
Endurance: 55\100
Health: 90\100
Accuracy: 55\100
Willingness: 60\100
However, finding team members from poorer countries will cost less, but stats will be mediocre...
Strength: 35\100
Speed: 65\100
Endurance: 30\100
Health: 45\100
Accuracy: 60\100
Willingness: 40\100
Kama's stats are as follows
Strength: 90\100
Speed: 80\100
Endurance: 95\100
Health: 70\100
Accuracy: 90\100
Willingness: 100\100
Stats can be raised and modified by eating healthy, working out, and so on between events.
SPECIAL STATS
Here is a stat not listed above. The stat is called WEIGHT. Weight will vary for all competitors, and healthy weights vary for different events. In fact, some events have limits to how much you can or can't weigh. IMPORTANT NOTE: The stat "weight" ALONG with the stat "health" will effect all other stats. You may not participate in certain events unless your player has a certain "willingness" stat.

There are thirteen events and there are different categories for each event in the fraction tournament, and here they are.
SPORTS
Please note that different sports demand different stats and abilities. You will have to carefully study the required stats
1.Bicycling (races, tricks) Requires healthy Speed and Endurance stats, with a bit of strength.
2.Motorcycling (races, tricks) Requires good willingness and endurance (willingness + endurance = ability to perform tricks and jumps.) stats to compete successfully.
3.Skiing (races, tricks) A mixture of speed, endurance, and accuracy will win this one for you.
4.Running (sprinting, endurance, marathons) You will need very high endurance and speed to win this one. Health is also very useful here, and you may need strength to boost performance just a bit.
5.Gymnastics (Pole vaulting, balancing, Hurtles) Very high accuracy and willingness is good here.
6.Hockey (single game) Endurance, speed, and a whole lot of strength will emerge the victor in Hockey.
7.Football (single game, field goal competition) High accuracy is needed for field goals. Other than that, it's all speed and strength
8.Baseball (single game, softball) The highest speed and accuracy is needed for batter, and stats vary for other field positions.
9.Basketball(single game,three-pionter game)Speed, endurance, with a touch of health and high accuracy make a winning basket here.
10.Soccer (single game) Very good speed with a touch of strength is good here.
11.Bowling (single game) He he. Strength all the way baby!
12.Snowboarding (racing, tricks) Same demands as skiing, with more health and higher stats.
13.Shooting (skeet, deer, ducks,) You need strength (steadying the gun.) and accuracy boosted the most in this competition.
You can do these events in any order, and the game ends when you have completed all of them. Winning events gives you money to buy athletic gear, food, workout equippment, and so on. Eat healthy! Certain foods, like salads, will raise all stat pionts considerably. But other foods, such as candy bars, will raise willingness but lower other stats!
Nationality Bonuses
(Thumbs up to the Newman for this section. Great idea.)
As stated previously, poorer countries may provide players with poorer stats. However, there is a special bonus to be found when playing certain sports. It is called the nationality bonus. Sportsman of certain nationalities will compete better in certain sports.
Example: If competing in HOCKEY with a sportsman from CANADA, the sportsman's stats will be boosted a bit, because Hockey is his nation's signature game.
If you have a teammate from Brazil, and his stats usually look like this
Strength: 75\100
Speed: 65\100
Endurance: 80\100
Health: 55\100
Accuracy: 75\100
Willingness: 85\100
and you compete in Soccer (Which is Football to your Brazilian dude, by the way. All sports in this game are referred to as Americans would, as it is being held in America.) then his stats will look more like this
Strength: 95\100
Speed: 80\100
Endurance: 85\100
Health: 65\100
Accuracy: 90\100
Willingness: 100\100 (Willingness is always 100 if competing in nation's sport.)
Boosting Stats
As stated before, stats can be altered. Here is a more detailed insight of how to make your sportsman the best. It will make a difference how you must excercise and eat based on which sport you're going for, yet the deal remains the same; you must excercise and eat! (Well, you don't HAVE to excercise, but you have to eat. Go ahead, eat without excercising, we'll see how far it gets you.)
STRENGTH: Work out at gyms and weight lifting types of places to build strength. For strength in the arms, do excercises such as push ups and lift weights for the arms. For strength in the legs, do excercises such as jogging and lift weights for the legs. Eating foods high in protien will help strength.
SPEED: To build speed, enter the "Running" event in the sports. You may choose a practice option. You may practice long distance and sprints, but not marathons. Stay slim and eat foods low in fat.
ENDURANCE: To build endurance, enter the "Gymnastics" event in the sports. You may choose a practice option. For endurance building, there are events such as long distance swimming, Breath holding (under water. It builds lung strength.)(!?), balancing heavy objects, and more. It is a good idea to excercise rather than eat healthy when building endurance, because most endurance-building foods will drop willingness faster!
HEALTH: To build health, make sure all stats are healthily built and eat the right kind of food. Also, make sure that you give attention to atheletes who require medications! (See the medication section.)
ACCURACY: To build accuracy, enter the "Shooting" or "Basketball" event. You may choose the option to practice. Raising accuracy will not only take effect when competing in shooting or basketball, but will help out other stats and give a boost when competing
The Rest of the Story
If you win, the ending sequence shows that Kama's team was not sent the five billion in prize money! How can this be? Kama discovers that it was sent to a run-down corporation in Japan. Kama gets there, to discover that the people who "accidentally" recieved the prize money have been waiting for him. Turns out that they are the former owners of a bio-engineering project known as fraction. Kama was created by them to be the perfect sports warrior. This is why Kama has a barcode on his neck and the fraction symbol on his arm. They named the tournament Fraction to lure Kamma to compete. Knowing he would win, they then took the prize money as soon as it was removed from security. Now Kamma knows too much, and his creators must dispose of him. It is time to participate in the one event that you never were in in the tournament...hand to hand combat! Your creaters are wielding knives and guns, so dodge their stabs and shots, taking them out with your karate techniques. If you are successful, Kamma takes back the prize money, and returns to his team, surprised but glad to finally know the truth of his exsistence.

FRACTION 2: TOURNAMENT OF THE IMMORTALS
Story
Five years ago, a sinister corporation bent on winning a priceless sports tournament created the ultimate athelete. However, the athelete, named Kamma, realized their ambitions and put an end to their treachory, taking with him the five-billion dollar prize money. But, whatever did Kamma and his team do with that money...?
Today, Kamma has used the money to create a sports tournament better and even more impossible than the first, and the winner must go against him as an honorary finale. In this sequel, you do not play as Kamma, but a young man named Christopher Dark, bent on defeating the bio-engineered Kamma.
Gameplay
In the beginning of the game, you are Christopher, all by himself in America. You are not only a sports leader, but an athelete wanting in on the Fraction 2 tournament. In this portion of the game, you must work for advertisers, traveling and getting the word out about the tournament, and persuading atheletes to join your team. (You may have a team of 7 atheletes.) You will not only increase your chances of getting a better team by doing this, but you will also be payed for your work. When you feel that you have advertised enough and recieved enough money, it is time to move on and build your team.
Since there are talented atheletes all over the world, you have the option to travel to different countries to find sportsmen. Be careful! Traveling costs money! You may travel faster, such as on planes, which keeps the willingness stat (see the stats section) at a decent rate, but costs an exorbent amount of money, or travel slower, over boat or car, which costs less yet decreases willingness. Once you have chosen the location or country you wish, you may find an athelete. You will be given the choice of three random atheletes each time you visit a country, each with different stats, weight, eating habits, interests, and so on. You may interview the sportsman in hopes of them joining your team, but it is suggested that you participate in training exercises first. Training excercises are short periods were you excercise with your athelete and get to know his style better so you can decide whether or not he is right for your team. When you have decided that you definately want a sportsman for your team, you may choose to purchase him\her from their current coach\sports leader. Atheletes from countries with more money will have better stats but cost more, and sportsmen from poorer countries may cost less yet have mediocre stats. HOWEVER, sportsman from poorer countries may still perform very well if competing in a familiar\signature sport. More on this issue is listed in the "stat building" section.
Variety Scoring
At the end of each event, you will recieve a "variety score." How high your variety score is is based on how many players of different nations you have on your team. Christopher is an American, so if you pick out six atheletes from Canada and compete in a sport, your variety score will be 2, for 2 different nations competing on a team. (That is, if every member competes. Points may be deducted if atheletes are unable to participate in an event.) Points may also be added based on the sex of your characters. If one of those Swedish atheletes was a woman, you will be rewarded with more points. Variety scoring comes in as a big part of how your characters will interact, and if you have a good mixture going, you may be rewarded by having raised stats and willingness among atheletes. However, if your atheletes do not interact well, they may have reduced stats, and may even turn on eachother during games in bloody fistfights! It will be your descision as a sports leader how to mix different types of people.
Stat Points
Keep in mind that stats will vary for ALL atheletes.
STRENGTH: Strength is the average of upper body, arms and legs.
SPEED: Speed is the average of legs and lungs' stats.
ENDURANCE: Endurance is the average of the heart, legs, and lungs stats.
ACCURACY: Accuracy is the average of the eyes and concentration stats.
SPECIAL STATS
Willingness: Willingness is a measure of the happiness, commitment, and good habits of the athelete. Willingness may effect all other stats, and certain sporting events may not be participated in if your athelete does not have a certain amount of willingness.
Weight and Height: Weight and Height must be well balanced in comparison to each other. Use the height stat as a guideline to making sure your character does not become overweight. Obesity not only dulls performance, but drops willingness as well!
HEALTH: Health is the average of all your stats combined. It is the most important stat of all, and if altered it will affect the rest of your stats as well. Christopher's stats are as follows. Major stats are in all CAPS.
Arm Strength: 80\100
Leg Strength: 85\100
Upper Body: 75\100
TOTAL STRENGTH: 80\100
Legs: 85\100
Lungs: 70\100
TOTAL SPEED: 77.5\100
Heart: 90\100
Legs: 80\100
Lungs: 70\100
TOTAL ENDURANCE: 80\100
Eyes: 95\100
Concentration: 65\100
TOTAL ACCURACY: 80\100
TOTAL WILLINGNESS: 100\100
HEIGHT: 6'5
WEIGHT: 200lbs
TOTAL HEALTH: 83.5\100
Sporting Events
There are 24 different sporting events in Fraction 2, almost twice as many as the original! Certain sporing events are held in different countries, and some have seperate men and women events. Remember, traveling to different countries costs money, and you will gain money for completing Sporting Events. (It is recommended that you start in America, because you will not have to waste money on traveling. And don't forget, the better you do in an event, the more money you will recieve. Even last place is rewarded with pay.) There may be different categories for each event.
American Events
Baseball: (Single game, softball) :High speed, strength and accuracy are needed for the batter, and stats vary for other field positions. (Speed and accuracy, mainly.)
Motorcycling: (Racing, tricks.) :Requires good willingness and endurance stats to complete successfully.
Football: (Single game, Field goal competition) :High accuracy is needed for the field goals. Other than that, it's all speed.
Basketball: (Single game, 3 pointer competition.) :Speed, high accuracy, and a touch of endurance win here.
Bowling: (Single game) Balanced Strength and accuracy is the only way to win here besides dumb luck.
Hunting: (Deer, Birds) Build endurance for long treks, strength for steadying rifles, and accuracy for firing, and you've got this in the bag.
Canadian Events
Hockey: (Single game) Speed along with balanced strength and endurance will emerge the victor here.
Cricket: (Single Game) Arm strength and high accuracy are good here.
Boxing: (Single match) Upper body strength, arm strength, and well balanced endurance will come out of this one alive.
Gymnastics: (Pole-vaulting, balancing, hurdles, high jumps.) Very high accuracy and willingness with a touch of endurance are perfect here.
Kayaking: (Races, endurance courses) Endurance and strength must be balanced and distributed amongst the whole team to emerge the victor here.
Mexican Events
Futbol: (Soccer) High speed, accuracy, and a touch of leg strength will win this one.
Rockclimbing: This one's all strength and endurance.
Swimming: (Races, endurance.) Upper body strength and arm strength along with speed and endurance will win here.
Bicycling: (Races, Tuer de France) Extremely good speed and Endurance will leave your opponents in the dust.
Luging: (Races) Once again, willingness and accuracy make it out of this one.
Skiing: (Races, tricks) A mixture of speed, arm strength, and accuracy will win you first place.
Irish Events
Traditional Rock Throwing: Holy S***! This one will take strength, strength, strength, strength, oh yeah, and strength.
Rugby: (Single game) This one will take a combination of endurance, speed, accuracy, and arm strength to win.
Japanese Events
Olympics: This is a combined event of all the sports participated in so far. Whoever wins this one gets to go up against Kamma in a special event...
Combat: (Traditional Martail Arts) Build all aspects of stat points in order to defeat the unstoppable bio-engineered Kamma in hand to hand combat!
Building Stats
Exercising: There are certain Gyms, clubs, and excercising facilities that vary in usefullness depending where you are. Some of these require money to enter. Inside, you may find different weights and exercising routines to follow in order to boost stats.
Boosting Strength: Do exercises such as push or pull ups and weight lifting in order to boost strength. For leg strength, jog and do exercises such as running on treadmills and leg weights. In addition, enter sport events that require strength and choose the practice option.
Boosting Speed: Participate in short distance sprints, and enter events that require speed, choosing the practice option.
Boosting Endurance: Run long distances, participate in breath-holding events, and build up balanced aspects of strength and speed.
Boosting Accuracy: Compete in Gymnastic and Shooting events, choosing the practice option.
Willingness: There is no real way to raise willingness just by exercising. Willingness is based on the choices you make for your character during the game.
Eating
Atheletes can't eat anything they want, obviously. Well, OK, they can, but there are consequences. Eating healthy foods constantly such as salads and health bars (along with a healthy amount of exercising) will considerably raise stats, but eventually eat away at willingness. Unhealthy foods such as candy bars and pizzas will decently raise willingness (unless your character is a health nut. Then you've got something good going on, because eating healthy will raise willingness. Too bad your character will only usually WANT to eat healthier and feel better about him\herself because they are overweight.) but drop stats! Therefore, it is a wise choice to regularly excercise while balancing unhealthy foods with healthy foods.
Health and Check-Ups
Your atheletes may have to regularly see doctors and have check-ups in order to stay healthy. Disease, broken bones, sprains, and other injuries can occur from sports. (The disease comes in from being around so many other people.) See a doctor (yes, it costs money.) regularly to make sure you will not find yourself with teammates sitting out at games.
WARNING: WHEN VISITING EXCERCISE FACILITIES, INJURIES DUE TO IMPROPER USE OF EQUIPTMENT MAY OCCUR, AND YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SIGN LIABILITY FORMS. THESE CAN BE AVOIDED WITH INSURANCE. MORE ABOUT THIS IN THE INSURANCE SECTION. Certain atheletes may have certain health problems. If so, be sure to check and visit your local Pharmacy. You may purchase prescriprion drugs and medications to boost stats and prevent them from dropping, depending on what problem an athelete has. Over-the-counter medications can be purchased for more common annoyances in health.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Say no to drugs! (Yeah, I know, you heard it 10 billion times when you where a kid.) During the game you may encounter drug dealers or maybe even illegal medications such as steroids! (When steroids are administered to an athelete, stats are garbled and Strength is switched to !?@#$!!\999.) These kind of drugs may help in certain aspects, such as willingness, but are overall very bad for your health. Furthermore, if caught competing and using drugs, you may suffer an enormous point deduction, and maybe even get kicked off the team!
Gear
OK, you can spend money on food, transport and exercise, but is that it? No, of course not. You will have the option to shop around for professional atheletic gear, which may boost or lower stats unpredictably!
Entertainment
Entertainment is one of the most deciding aspects of willingness. You may buy televisions, games, and many other personal wants for your teammates. Good examples include souveniers from other countries. (They're expensive though.) These liesurely items may increase OR decrease willingness provided how much you allow your teammate to use them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: During the game, you may sell items back to where you bought them from for half price. If you sell them to other athletic teams or foreign shops, you will recieve more money, yet your opponents may benefit from the effects of the item! If you are caught drug dealing, you know what happens...
Insurance and Liability
During the game, you may have the opportunity to win or purchase insurance policies, which may help avoid paying for injuries. Physical tests may be required to get certain insurance. Liability forms may be avoided by purchasing atheletes insurance. The better stats the athelete has, the more expensive the insurance will be, so it is a good idea to purchase insurance early on, although it is expensive.
Max Stats
As you already know, characters start out with stats being something\100. However, there are certain courses and medications you can take to raise your stats up to 400\400!
Nationality Bonuses
Willingness: 100\100
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although willingness stat is always 100\100 if competing in a signature sport, your character may feel pressured that he is competing against his home town, and residents might act cruelly toward him\her. This will definately alter stats, so provide entertainment to get it off of the atheletes mind.
The Aftermath
If you were successful in defeating Kamma, you are rewarded with a doubled prize (going by the five billion prize of the last game) of TEN BILLION dollars. You may now purchase a new feature: TOURNAMENTS! You may buy, sell, and own tournaments in which YOU choose the sports and restrictions, build excercising facilities, (as well as create Liability and Insurance forms) and so on. Also, Kamma is unlocked as a playable character! (His stats are kickass)

So: richer countries produce better sportsmen? Taking football (soccer to you) as an example, by your method, America would have FAR better sportsmen than, say, Brazil, and we all know how much truth THAT holds! Recommend a different method- some people from poor but sporty countries (such as Brazil!) might even be offended. Not saying Brazil should be top, as there are other sports, but pointing out a flaw in the system. Second: mapping out the entire world so you can scout out your team is effectively an impossibly large piece of work, especially as it isn't even the main point of the game. Definite need to change that. Don't understand why having a multi-country team would make getting others harder, perhaps instead have intra-team communication hindered by the language barrier- teams that speak the same language suffer the least, but make the smallest contribution to the variety score, countires that are close to one another are likely to have people who can speak a smattering of the basics of the language of the others, enabling basic communication and a fair degree of variety, while countries that have nothing in common (czeck republic and new zealand for instance) can only communicate using gestures, but add lots to variety score. Perhaps also have national rivalries- Iraq/iran, north/south Korea, Switzerland/Norway etc. Improves variety, but have to mange them more carefully. What difference does the variety score make anyway? One last thing: at the end- why didn't the corporation just shoot him? And why did they bother to tell him everything if they were just going to kill him right after for knowing too much! Especially as he wouldn't have done if they'd actually kept their mouths shut! Beginnings of an interesting work, but needs refining.

Well, I guess countries may be offended by the whole "rich and poor" theme, but hey, I'm getting somewhere. And I don't think scouting out your team would have to be THAT complex, maybe you could just pick a country, and they give you random members to choose from. And as for the ending, I have no idea why the hell I chose for them to tell Kamma about his past. I just had to figure out some way to tell THE READERS about it! Oh well, I didn't put much time into this one...

No, I have never thought of submitting a sequel to Fraction. The reason is becuase I do not at all think that the ending was open to a sequel. The leaders of the corporation were destroyed, and Kamma goes home. I'll consider it, but it might be tough trying to think up new elements of gameplay.

If you have read this, you have probably noticed that THIS IS NOT ONLY FRACTION! I have added the sequel "Fraction 2: Tournament of the Immortals." I did consider deVil.shadow's suggestion, however I decided that this sequel was not worth submitting, as it is too much like the original. However, I think the sequel is quite a bit better, and I hope you enjoy reading both.
