The game Crusoe follows the storyline of the book named Robinson Crusoe, about a man who is stranded on a tropical island. The entire game is in a view similar to that of Ages of Empires, and plays kind of like Harvest Moon. The first section of the game is where you must survive for 180 days (in the game, one day is 5 minutes). At first, you are on the island, and you have 1 minute left in the day. You have to build a shelter by some water. You can gather materials by clicking on them (they will have a list of actions you can carry out), and choosing 'gather'. Then, find a spot, and click and choose the action 'build'. Their is also an 'eat' command, along with 'kill', 'shoot', 'burn', and a few others. You can choose to use the different pieces in different ways. For example, if you choose stone for the walls, and straw for the roof, your house will be pretty stable. But, if you choose to make your house a blanket hung over a few branches, it will not stay well against the harsh elements. Still, if you make a flimsy house, you can gather more food and water. For the next four days, you have to build a small raft, and rescue stuff from the stranded ship. This includes food, gunpowder, raw materials, a cat, and three dogs. The gun, gunpowder, 3 barrels, and the cat are mandatory, so if you want to spend that time exploring the island instead, you will not be stifled. The following 115 days you must survive by building better shelters, cultivating corn, wheat, etc.; in short, do your best to survive. This period will teach you new skills, such as 'plant' and 'dig', and you will recieve new items like shovels. As a bonus, there are 5 treasure chest hidden in the island; finding them will increase your score. Next, for sixty days, you meet an Indian (Friday) and befriend him. He can help with the crops, and other things, but first you must theach him how to speak English. He will help you ward of cannibals and attack pirates, too. In the end, you must get rescued by an English ship. The controls are similar to Ages of Empires. The island is similar to shape and size to those of Ages of Empires, and is regenerated each time you play. Two player mode enables to different players (online), to help eachother in order to survive. One plays as Crusoe, and the other, Friday.
