This here is a fighting game that stars the various characters that have made their debut by the company formally known as Square. Square has changed it's name a few times, once to Squaresoft(I don't know why) and again, due to it's merging with Enix, to Square-Enix. The games that came out of the company were awesome (at first, they have began to slowly decline on the awesome scale). However, some of the most memorable characters in the RPG universe have came out of Square.
The idea of making a fighting game starring character's from RPG's, is that I am tired of arguing who would win in a fight between Cloud and Sephiroth( personally I think Sephiroth owns Cloud and that if Cloud didn't have help, Meteor would've crushed the planet). So I thought that wouldn't it be nice if we could use our favorite characters and determine for ourselves who is the very best. The title "The Square Untouchables" comes from the fact that the characters are from Square games and the characters in the game are "untouchable" in the sense of their uniqueness, originality and the character development is outstanding.
In concern about the battle system, I am not sure on how I would like this game to go. I could go the SoulCalibur II method and have an excellent weapons system (because most RPG characters have a plethera of weapons to use) and the combat mechanics would be more complex and rewarding when mastering. I could also go the approach of Powerstone and have a totally interactive 3-D board, but complexity in the moves couldn't be as detailed as a game like SoulCalibur II. Also the third style of combat would be something like Super Smash Bros. Melee (my favorite fighting game). This could work and possibly well, but the list and variety of moves would be much less than a normal fighting game. However, it could work if the game worked like SSBM and had several items and special features in the game. Like instead of a pokeball, you use materia or espers. I haven't decided on what would be best, or even if a combination of aspects from each one is possible.
When it comes to storyline, I am not positively sure just yet but I think I have a decent idea. The storyline begins as a giant entity known as Omega Bahamut arrives in the Galaxy of Square. There, he sends messages to the various worlds in search of the strongest fighters in the galaxy. He wishes to hold a tournament in order to determine who is the strongest in the galaxy and the winner will have a single wish granted to them. Omega Bahamut then sets up arenas in each of the worlds and transportation methods to travel between the worlds an fight the opponents. The winner after the long chain of battles will recieve his prize from Omega Bahamut, but no one knows what motives Omega Bahamut truly has and if their is more than their appears to the tournament.
When it comes to the cast of characters participating in the tournament, I have come across several that I believe to either be cool, unique or one-of-a-kind. The cast of characters are as following: Fei(Xenogears), the little furry thingy that can grow really big(Xenogears), Cloud Strife(FF7), Sephiroth(FF7), Tifa(FF7), Cid Highwind(FF7), Squall(FF8), Seifer(FF8), Zidane(FF9), Vivi(FF9), Kuja(FF9), Sabin(FF6), Edgar(FF6), Shadow(FF6), Terra(FF6), Cyan(FF6), the main character from Secret of Mana, Crono(Chrono Trigger), Magus(Chrono Trigger), Frog(Chrono Trigger), Starky(Chrono Cross), Glenn(Chrono Cross), Serge(Chrono Cross), Kid(Chrono Cross), Auron(FF10) and Tidus(FF10).
These are all of the characters that I have right now, so please give me some of your opinions on what you think of it. Also, I would appreciate any opinions on the combat system and any characters you think should be added.
