Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat:: Realms of Destruction 2005(SFvsMK:R.O.D2005)

The game would be a mix of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter characters and features, the graphics will be in 2-D, using the 2-D style of Street Fighter Alpha 3. Scorpion will have that Street Fighter 2-D look as well as the rest of the MK universe, perfect because that’s the style we are aiming at.

Both genres use "projectiles", both genres know Martial Art Styles, and they both have an innovative storyline, The projectiles would look cool in the SF type of style, Sub-Zero’s freeze move, Raiden’s Lighting Bolt, ect..

The Combo gauge used in Street Fighter Alpha 3 will benefit the MK style a lot, in terms of letting the game come back in style, a la 2-D. For example, one of Scorpions combo’s would be a series of kicks to the face, followed by a ninjitsu combo attack, ending in quick bone break that would throw the character back, maybe one of his big combos. One of Scorpions cooler combos for example, might be that at Gauge level 3 he throws his classic spear at an opponent then following in with an awesome super combo. The fighting would be clean as well, each character having their own set of moves, allowing SF fans to pride over their characters advancments or have MK fans discover those advancements.

Let’s not forget the other Gauge styles in Street Fighter Alpha 3 also. The game would have a small advancement from Capcom vs SNK, 2 and SF3 in some MK games you could have had multiple costumes, this is where the 2-D game advances, where now you can have alternate or maybe up to 2 different costumes for characters. Example- Vega could wear his full matador suit, M. Bison would have various original costume styles. Ryu and Ken would have about 2 other original costumes, sometimes their belts on their costumes will change in color, kind of a fun thing to see. You must however unlock the 2 costumes first by venturing into the game. You have 4 different colors to choose from the get go, including 4 unique colors for every different costume you unlock. Adding to the game engine, you can also add the Capcom vs SNK 2 fighting style engine, which included 6 options of styles, add what Street Fighter 3: Third Strike had as in new engine playability, by now they might even be able to step up on this category.

Now we continue, babalities, friendships, brutalities, animalaties, theses are some things MK fans thought were a bit too "unrealistic for the franchise", so hey, it would be fun here, people could appreciate them here in this game. Fatalaties , I answer doubts from the Street Fighter fans, they would have to be toned down, no blood, this is a good thing however, it brings back that traditional feeling of the first and original Mortal Kombat, people will absolutely adore pulling off a fatality with Ryu or M.Bison, as well as pulling off a fatality with

Scorpion or Sub-Zero.

However This is the way I thought it would work best- 1 fatality per character and 1 pit stage fatality, to keep the game clean. The fatality option can be turned off easily in the options screen.

Game Modes- Arcade, Training Mode, Survivor Mode, Vs Mode, you get the point, but add what SF Alpha 3 had as well as the newer games, like SF3 for example and Capcom vs SNK2 modes, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, to make the game complete in terms of replay.

I came up with a special game mode of my own or a twist of a game mode, remember the world tour mode in SFA3?  Make one called "OUT' World Tour, where you encounter fighters on earth, you can also encounter fighters in MK's outworld map ect, so you have two maps connecting earth and outworld with the two genres colliding in all of this.

There should be a level for every character, I thought that might be too much, but then I thought of MK Trilogy a game that had a level for each character, coming to the conclusion that this wouln't be as hard to do, although the level designs would be much more intricate.

There should only be a few pit fatality enabled stages, to add a sence of wanting to uncover certain levels or unlock.

Some of the best things about this game aren’t only the fun factor of it, but the AUDIO TUNES for the levels, some things Street Fighter are famous for, MK will have a blend of SF Level tunes, so its also dark, but it mixes in perfectly with the fighting aspect of the game, the level designs will also be innovative, because its just so awesome to imagine how they would turn out.

One big benefit, MK lives on, just how fans have wanted it to be once again, in 2-D, you can’t go back to 2-D in MK now that it’s in 3-D, but in this game you CAN because it’s a vs game and people love this stuff, absolutely.

Another benefit, Online play, of course. Not only that but you would have millions of people wanting to fight one another in the game, wanting to prove who could kick ass, both SF and MK fans alike.

There could be a number of surprises, on how each character interacts with the other, a total number of 3 middle bosses you can fight, depending on what difficulty level you have it on, and how many points you score, for each of either side MK or SF. You will unlock characters, stages, costumes etc. But for those of you who follow the 2-D fighting generation, I’m sure you will come up with those ideas on your own.

The story plot would be something alone the lines of, a portal opens in the middle of a strange earthrealm, various strange warriors have challenged the world of SF to compete in Mortal Kombat, however M.Bison may have other plans. The plot has to be tweaked to sound like a vs game....but I’ll leave that to someone else. The characters will look good, but the storyline needs a little more thinking. It is also nice to imagine the vs options in terms of Bison vs Shao Kahn ect.

It opens up a whole other world for vs games, another game to be proud of as avid or simple casual gamer with a style for entertainment and fighting games, this is a game you can play over and over again with friends, while keeping the classic fighting games alive.

Song Themes would be done by Capcom along side with Midway to produce a new but clean Audio solution for the game.(Except for M.Bison/Shao Kahns End Stage, I chose a special song, "Get it in on the floor", by DMX edited or instrumental version for their Theme)

Possible System-  I thought the PS3, X-Box 2, Gamecube 2 would be good systems to support this next 2-D generation fighter, the systems shouldn't be that far off behind, unfortunatelly YEARS alone are a long time, but since the game has to be made from scratch, then there is no arguing with this.

Character Endings-3-D endings maybe, something I want to see in SF4 if that is also made one day, not sure which one to decide on, Cartoon endings?  Or 3-D endings?  Tough choice.

Well i love both street fighter and mortal kombat, i remember reading the issue of EGM when i was little when mortal kombat first came out and they were comparing it to street fighter. since then i've been crazy about both. The biggest problem with this idea is not the change from polygonal or digitized characters into animated ones (i think it's pretty cool actually), but the integration of fatalities and super moves for both groups. Granted, the MK characters could have super moves, but for SF the fatalities really dont' fit. That just kind of soils the image of street fighter. Personally i think the best thing would be to have two separate games (maybe packaged together) containing every character from both series redone in beautiful 2d or 3d graphics (whichever seems better) so you have something like Street Fighter Legends and Mortal Kombat Anthologies (just throwing out names). No one would have to ask me to buy such a game. I do appreciate your idea though, and if you could find a way to make it work that would be great. already alot of thought was put into your idea, good job. (ps. never include babalities)

Thanks, I believe I have finally solved the fatality problem. Although these are just ideas, One would need to put alot of thought into the structure of both worlds, SF and MK, alot of people see one as this and one as that, but it's when you start seeing both games as a world and as a culture that you get the best ideas out. "The Fatality Gauge"- each fighter would have the standard of 2 fatalaties. In the form of a meter, you charge it as you fight and you can only achieve fatality number 2 by charging this special meter to its fullest power, you can also unleash fatality number 1 if you wish at this point. The fatality is only a type of super combo, so it really is a second and third special or super combo for each character which adds a clean feel to the game and you have that Mortal Kombat aspect in it. When you charge the meter to power 1 you hear a laugh similar to those in the MK games, when you charge the meter to power level 2 you hear the word "finish him", guaranteeing a instant kill if unleashed upon the character correctly in the form of MK style button combinations, although you may only use fatality number 2 during rounds 2 or 3. This leaves alot of advancments in both the MK and SF world, for instance you may need to creat special names for the fatality combos as I would call them, for example- "vega's, CURE OF THE SCARLET DISEASE, which would probably be death, in this case the fatality combo would have a special name for each of the fatalities within all of the characters, which is extremelly fun to see in my opinion. I will note that the fatalities have no blood, and yet they do not need to have blood, because they are special types of combos and give the game that MK and SF mix feel without destroying or soiling the ambiance of any of the two games. You have to really think hard once again, something probably no one would have noticed for instance take a look- In SF vega can only use most of his moves in his stage, because his cage ring appears, in other words the idea here is that Vega can only use his 2nd fatality combo when he is fighting in his stage, probably confirming that his second special fatality will include the use of his cage. stage fatalaties could also be performed when achieving the first stage of the meter, again, nothing bloody at all, for example in a pit fatality a tornado of souls can dissolve you when thrown off a bridge. Or a Portal can consume you when thrown off a stage and so on. "The Character Select Screen"- Mix in some elements and make it really stand out, when you select your character the name is called out, for instance when you select-M.BISON, you would hear "Micheal Bison" or "Mike Bison" , or when selecting Sagat, you would hear "Victor Sagat" and so on. depending on the history of the character ect ect. "Title Menu Music"- Ever heard the Theme song of the MK movie? How about a remix, where the guy screams out both MK and SF then says the names of various Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat names. "Another Level Idea"- Interactivity is key, like in MK3 where you could have multiple levels in one. You could have this in a unique way in the game also, the levels in Mortal Kombat had names, so this would also be key here such as- "The Streets of Spain" for vegas stage, Scorpions stage in MK3 was in hell, wherease this doesn't mean you have to redue every stage because it can take place in another part of hell or in a completely different background and such for SF vs MK. "Endings"-remember those endings in MKGOLD? Add them here, although they may be fantasy endings, it would look awesome, because you have 2 worlds colliding and you need to add lots of flavor to make the game look whole and not completelly separated from one another. Ryu's ending would have been that he did not like to kill, yet Raiden a character in MK explains that MK "is not about death but life" and so on and so on, which ultimatelly means Ryu is not a killer by participating in such an event. All in all what better combination of games could creat a smash fighting game hit, I believe the game has a feeling of "must be done". But it takes time i believe to come up with extremelly impactfull ideas for a game like this, because of the history of the two. I will be posting more ideas soon
