1.The Story
Two years after the defeat of Ganondorf, peace and prosperity seemed to rule Hyrule. Even Link was enjoying the peaceful times. Then something happened that took the entire empire by surprise. A shadow monster from another dimension attacked. It reproduced asexually and soon there was an entire army of them. Hyrule's army went to battle with them. Unfortunantly, there was to many of the monsters and the army was overwhelmed.
Link knew he had to take action in order to stop this new threat. He went to a secret compartment in his house to get all his weapons, then took his horse on the road to Hyrule Castle. He was putting up a good fight until a new shadow beast stepped foward. It attacks Link with tremendous force, Knocking Link out, and scatering all of his weapons to different kingdoms. The only thing he has left is the Master Sword which no longer has the power to slay evil. News of similar monsters invading other kingdoms spreads fast. When Link wakes up the kingdom of Hyrule is in ruins.
Link knows what he must do. He has to slay the shadow monsters. First he has to find his weapons though. So he once again sets off on an adventure. His only choice is to destroy the shadow monsters. Failure is not an option. He then rides into the wind.
2.Gameplay
I will explain the following things here. 1.The Enemies 2.Your weapons 3.The Landscape 4.Special features 5.Side quests
1. The Enemies
There many types of enemies in the game. 7 to be precise. The first is a normal shadow monster. They are like black ghosts that can appear and disappear whenever. They do not do much damage when they attack. There are different types of these monsters. They are green, red, and gold. You can capture them in bottles. The green ones replenish your magic, the red ones heal you, and the gold ones have the powers of both. The second type is a shadow warriors. They stand 6 feet tall. They are very musculer and carry swords. Next are the shadow mages. They are 5 feet tall and are physicaly weak. Their magic abilities are very powerful however. Next is a shadow demon. They are 4 feet tall and are rather puny. They are great archers though. They are not dangerous unless they are very far away. Next is a shadow triclop's. They stand over 6 feet tall and have three eyes. They are very muscular and attack with brute force. There only weakness is the middle eye on their head. Next are the shadow soliders. They are the ones who make up the shadow armies. The only place you fight them are in the layers of the bosses. Last are the biggest and the badest of all of the normal enemies. The next are the shadow appaeitions.. They are spirits that attack with physic powers. Use exteme caution when battling them. Now that you know about the normal enemies, lets get onto the Bosses. There are 5 bosses in the game. You battle one per kingdom (get into that later) They are all Shadow Dragons. Each one has its own special ability. The first one you fight can breath fire that can melt almost any substance. The second one came shoot water with extreme power . The third one can shoot ice that can freeze anything, even lava.. The fourth one can blow very strong winds. The last one (boss of the game) has the power of all of the other dragons and has the power of Darkness. This draon has the power to call on other forces.
2.Your Weapons
There are many weapons in this game. Old ones and new ones alike. The old weapons are the Master Sword, Warrior Sheild, Mirror Sheild, Hero's Bow, ice fire gold arrows, bombs, hookshot, boomerang, iron boats, hover boats, the fire and water tunics, the orcarina, and the magic mirror. The new ones are Pegasus Shoes, which give you an outbreak of speed for a short distance. Next is Zora's Flippers. This item lets you swim for as long as you like. The Crane of Byrna, which creates a magic barrier around you untill your magic power runs out or you disarm it. The Crane of Light is used to light up dark hallways and to attack shadow monsters. The next one is the Sheild of the Gods. This is the only shield that can block the attacks of a Shadow Dragon. Last is the Sword of Holy Light. It was created by the gods and is the only weapon that can slay a shadow dragon.
3.The Landscape/ missions.
There are many other kingdoms invovled in this game, five of them. You must travel to all of them to slay the Shadow Dragon and its army there. The names of each of them are, Hyrule, Myan, Shlic, Marvl, and Ferlan. Each one holds items that you need to survive. Each one has its own Shadow Dragon and shadow army. When you destroy a Shadow Dragon, The kingdom is revived. The people that were killed are also brought back to life. When a Kingdom is not revived, it is crawling with shadow soliders. There are cannons set up around the castle in each kingdom were a Shadow Dragon lives. The other part of the kingdom is in ruins and is very dangerous. It can have secert traps or some buildings may collapse.
The environment in this game is interactive. There are many different environments as well. There are forests, fields, mountains, shadow land (land that is under the control of Shadow Dragons) and under water regions. Certain terrains hold certain enemies. Shadow land holds shadow soliders, shadow mages, shadow apparitions and Shadow Dragons. Forests and fields hold shadow demons, shadow monsters, and shadow triclops. Mountains only hold shadow demons, but there are alot and they stand on ledges to snipe you, using their devil shards. the devil shards are tiny objects that can pierce the skin and inject darkness into the soul.
4.Special Features
There are many features in this game. There are picture galleries, music galleries, system link (Gameboy Advance) training, mini quest, and Adventure. Music gallery lets you listen to all the different music from the game. System link lets you link up to the game Zelda, A Link to the Past. It lets you download the game onto it. Training teaches you all the controls of the game. Mini quest is a side game were you play the last part of The Orcarina of Time, and Ganondorfs castle. Adventure is the main game.
5. Side Quests
As any Zelda game, there are many minor missions in the game that get you special power ups like bigger bomb bags. There are many in this game and their are a few tht can get you very special prices. Those missions are very challenging though. One of them opens pictures from old Zelda games. Another opens a secert mission in the game. Others even let you gain new weapons, like a spear bomb, which is a spear with a bomb attached to it. It detonates on impact.
