I can remember the first time I played the original DOA on my Playstation back in the day. Living in a Tekken dominated world DOA was a nice stray from the button mashing and ease that is Namco's brawler.

I relived this experience when I first got my DC version of DOA2. It had finally caught up with and surpassed the shoddy Tekken in terms of gameplay as well as graphics. Now over a year later the game is re-released on yet another console. Why is it still receiving a perfect score...well....

This game is one of the most gorgeous I have ever seen. Free flowing clothes and hair are just of the few small details that make this game soar above the rest. The character models are to die for and the backgrounds are unparalleled. The slowdown that plagued the DC version is nowhere to be found and using DVD format Tecmo has incorporated high res textures for everything! This game is absolutely flawless as far as graphics go!

Let me put it this way...I own the soundtrack. This game has some kick ass music, especially the band Bomb Factory, they are awesome. The sound effects are great and the voices are a 50/50. When I say this I mean the Japanese voices rule and the English voices...well just listen to Kasumi and you will understand.

As far as control goes I learned to play DOA on my PS controller and I will always play better on my PS controller. This game plays like a 3D fighter should. Smooth, responsive, and easy to pick up, nothing beats that first reversal you pull off.

How ironic is it that the most HARDCORE site on the net is reviewing a HARDCORE game? Well to say the least this game is for us. The hardcore gamers will eat this one alive. If you own a PS2 you owe it to yourself to get this game. It is by far the best fighting game on the PS2 so far, and probably will be for months to come, at least until DOA3 hehe...ZT : Playstation 2 : Dead Or Alive 2
